Mosey on over...

...to Electrifying Reviews where you can enter to win a copy of my new book, Blood Like Poison.  I'm working on the sequel now, though I'm not as far along as I'd like.  I still hope to be finished by the end of next week and have it published by the end of May or early June.  All y'all that have "that question"--you know, the one about Bo at the very end--you'll just have to wait a little bit longer and read the next book to find out.  Aren't I mean?  Muah-ha-ha-ha  :)

FYI:  for those who don't believe that "mosey" is an actual word, for those who think it was just something John Wayne made up, I took the time to confirm it.  To mosey is to walk or move in a leisurely manner.  That's what I'm going to be doing today:  moseying.  It's the weekend, y'all!  It's no time to hurry.  That can wait until Manic Monday.

TGIF everybody!

A Worthy Cause

I have recently been befriended by a lovely lady by the name of Lora.  I am going to be the feature author on her blog for the month of May.  The post that includes an interview and giveaway should be up later today at the link in the next paragraph.

In the course of our conversation, among the other wonderful things I learned about her, I found out that she is involved in fighting illiteracy.  Through her blog and her organization READ FOR YOUR FUTURE, Lora collects books to stock for underprivileged children who don't otherwise have access to books.  Chances are, if you know who I am, you read, or else you probably wouldn't be here.  Imagine your world if you either couldn't read or didn't have access to any books even if you could.  Think of all the wonderful imagery you get from reading a good book, all the places to which you can travel without ever leaving your home.  Think of all the people you get to meet and all the things you get to do, all from the comfort of your favorite chair.  The least we can do after getting to spend a few hours in the exciting life of someone else is to share the joy.

If you are an author who would like to donate a set of your books to Lora's cause or if you're an avid reader and your bookshelf is overflowing, get in touch with her and send her some books.  You'd be helping to feed the hungry minds of our youth as well as enriching the lives of the masses.

Ok, I'm climbing down off my soapbox now:)  Happy Thursday everyone.  I'm off to get Bo and Ridley out of their latest mess...

Interview and BLP Giveaway

I am proud to announce that The Secret Writer over at TheSecretWriterBlog has posted an interview with me as well as a giveaway for the launch of Blood Like Poison.  Skip on over there to check out his neat blog and enter for a chance to win.  Thanks, Calum, for all that you've done for me:)

The Summer of Sequels

This summer, the movie theaters are going to be full of sequels.  Pirates 4, Cars 2, Scream 4, Faster 5, Hangover 2, Mission: Impossible 4, Transformers 3, Harry Potter 7.5 (or 8, depending on how you view it).  I look forward to each and every one of them.  I'm a huge movie buff.  My other dream job in life, if I couldn't be a writer, would be a movie critic.  The only problem with that is that there are only certain movies I want to watch.  I wouldn't want to watch anything sad or subtitled, and I'm sure they'd want me to do exactly that, so...I'm even more grateful that I'm a writer.  I can write what I want, happy endings and all.

Speaking of which, this is going to be my summer (and probably, to some extent, fall) of sequels, too.  When I began writing, I didn't intend to write 4 very different books before I wrote even one one sequel.  In fact, the very first book I ever wrote, I wrote the second book right away.  I don't know what happened, other than (as usual), I got carried away by my imagination.  I'm forever thinking, "Oh, that would be a cool storyline" or "I'd love to write a book about ________" or "I love vampires.  I need to write a book just about vampires."  That kind of stuff happens to me all the time.  Really.  In the middle of the night, in the shower, during the news, during a meal.  My imagination is constantly at work, whether I am or not.  I suppose that's a good thing, it just makes it hard to focus on one thing at a time for very long.  As I've said before, I have AADD (author's attention deficit disorder).

"Focus, you must, my young Padawan," my inner Yoda said.  So that's what I'm doing.

I'm happy to report to all those who have asked (and thank you for your support and interest BTW) that all my next projects are sequels.  I'm currently working on the next Blood Like Poison book.  After I publish that, I'll begin the second installment of The Reaping (Fahllen series) and following that, Wiccan's final book.  Lastly, probably sometime in the fall, I'll be writing Cat's next life.

So, there you have it.  Let me warn you, however, that this winter I'm going to finish one of my new projects.  I can't decide whether it's going to be my dystopian novel or something I've not told you about.  It's hard to say.  Inspiration is a fickle, fickle thing.  Sometimes, she grabs on tight and won't let go, no matter how much I might like her to sit still on something else for a little while longer.  My little book of ideas is overflowing with stories that are begging to be written, but I'll just have to wait and see.  A few months can make a world of difference.  Heck, to me a few days or even a few hours can make a world of difference.  Fickle, I tell you!  Fickle!

See, even now, I'm resisting the urge to go off on a tangent with another book. But, no!  I'm focused on BLP 2 and that's that:)

Stay tuned-in here for more details and announcements.  As you know, I do answer questions on FB, but I tend to make most of my "broadcasts" here.  Don't really know why.  It's weird.  I think it's because...

Did you see me fading off right there??  *sigh*  I'm hopeless:)

Anywho, y'all have a wonderful weekend!!  I need some coffee...

BLOOD LIKE POISON: For the Love of a Vampire

Or is it Blood Lik Poison?

Y'all, I'm such a doofus!  I typed in the name like that on Barnes and Noble and, of course, it's taking forever to process so I'm having to check it 6,000 times a day to see if it's ready for me to go in and change it.  Blood Lik Poison--what a compelling name!  :)

Anyway, I'm happy, happy, happy to report that I have published the book and it is available right this minute at Amazon.  Smashwords wanted a formatting correction so it will be live there later this morning and B&N, well, they're probably having a good laugh over my type-o, but I'm hoping that when they compose themselves they'll get right on finishing with it:)

I know you're not supposed to toot your own horn or say that one book is better than the others.  But, if I'm being honest (which I always try to be), I have to say that this is by far, BY FAR my favorite book.  It's not as action-packed as The Reaping, but something about these two people just resonate with me.  And, ladies, I'm just going to tell you right now that Bo is frickin' awesome.  At least he is in my head.  If I've done a decent job of putting him on "paper", you'll probably feel that way, too.  At lease I hope you will.

Anywho, I went ahead and posted the page for it, but I'll be updating the links to purchase it as they go live.

One more thing.  If you like (or lik) my books, please tell others.  It's a hard business out there, publishing.  Especially self-publishing, so I could use all the help I can get and would be ever-so grateful for it.  It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if you went on Amazon or B&N or Smashwords and talked me up in a review.  Not one bit, I say.  In fact, I can promise you that if you want to say my stuff is the best thing since sliced bread, I wouldn't be mad at all:)  And, of course, I want to hear your feedback on this new book, so let me know.

All in all, I hope Bo finds his way into your heart like he did mine and Ridley's.  Whew!  He's kind of a catch, y'all.  I'm just sayin'...

Here's the cover BTW.  Oh, yeah and...IT'S FRIDAY!   In the words of the most awesome tuxedo-wearing, salt-and-pepper hair-having Emcee in the world, Michael Buffer--Let's get ready to rumbllllllllllle!

BLOOD LIKE POISON

Ok, so I'm very excited to report that tomorrow, I should be finished with the first edit of my new book, Blood Like Poison.  YAY!!  WOOHOO!!  (insert ticker tape parade here)

Blood Like Poison is the first book in a new series.  As soon as I get this one published, I'll be starting on the second book. I'll be sending BLP out to my beta readers tomorrow night, at which time I will edit... again... and finish the front and back cover.  Once I get them completed, I'll post them here.  I hope to get my draft back from the betas next week and then if everything looks good, I'll edit again and try to get it published next weekend or so.  I'm so excited.  Keep your fingers crossed!!

Y'all, I gotta tell ya: I love, love, LOVE what I do.  I really, really do:)

Gotta go. Vampire Diaries awaits...

Heat stroke and a new book

I think I lost a few treasured brain cells today in a bout of what I believe was probably about 2 body temperature degrees away from being heat stroke.  Now, I don't know about y'all, but I like all my brain cells just the way they are-- ALIVE!  Granted, they probably don't work quite the way they used to, but at least I'm not a talking cucumber.  Yet...

On a completely unrelated note, I finished my next book.  YAY!!!!  Of course, now there's at least a week or two of editing ahead, and that's IF there's no rewriting to be done.  Not my favorite part, but I'm anxious to get it done, so it's not too bad:)

I've narrowed down the cover to a couple of different pics.  When I select one and get it ready, I'll post it on here along with the back cover detail.  I'm also going to be sending it out to several blogs to do a launch and giveaway.  Stay tuned for a list if you're interested in entering to win a free copy.

Wow, this is turning out to be a pretty good Monday after all.  Well, except for the drop in IQ:)

Happy Monday, y'all!
