Madly's Lore- Your Favorite Tale

Ok, so in preparation for the release of the introduction to Madly, I want to explain something.  If you missed that post, read it first HERE.  Anyway, I'd like to experiment with something new on this blog for the Madly series.  I have already thought of a ton of interesting fairy tale creatures that I'd like for Madly to run into, but I have only decided on 2 for sure.  What I'd like to do is open Madly's tales up for input.  FROM YOU!  Here's what you do:

1.  Tell me your favorite fairy tale creature that you'd like to see Madly face (just the name of the tale and the "bad guy")

2.  If I choose to include that creature (or my version of that creature anyway) as one of Madly's Lore, I will write into that book a character with your first name and list you in the credits as part of my inspiration

I think that would be a really neat interactive feature for a book.  I think it would be so cool to say, "Yeah, that psycho friend named Michelle in the third book was totally named after me because I wanted her to write about a killer clown in fishnet stockings."  Of course, you won't be the creature or the bad guy, and most likely not a psycho friend or a killer clown.  You might be stalked by any of those things in the book, but...

Maybe WHEN Madly is made into a movie, they'll even ask you to play yourself.  How awesome would that be??  This would probably be a good place for me to insert that I'm a wicked big dreamer.  Can you tell?  :)

Anyway, leave your suggestion here as a comment, for all the world to see, and we'll see just who and what turns up in these books.

Like my new digs?

Ooo, pretty!!

Ok, so late bloomer that I am, it's taken me this long to discover Hot Bliggity Blog, but I totally love it!  To me, it's the blog background / accessory equivalent of shoes, only ones I won't change as often:)

Anywho, it kind of goes along with my summer-y attitude.  And along with that comes a couple other announcements I'd like to make.

At one point, I had decided to dedicate this summer to sequels, and in a way I still will.  I have, however, changed my schedule a bit.

With the writing of Blood Like Poison, I have discovered a love of stories that depart somewhat from my usual dark-and-dramatic tales.  It is for that reason that I have decided to do a different kind of project in between my sequels.

I began it yesterday and hope to have it published by the end of the month.  How, you may ask?  Well, that's part of the secret.  For now, let's just say that it will open up my work to a very, very large audience and I hope to tell them all a fun tale. And, of course, love will be in the air:)

Once I get closer to finishing, I'll announce more in the way of details and my "plan."  And believe it or not, there is actually a plan, which goes totally against the grain for someone like me.  However, the "plan" has less to do with the book's content than the way I intend to publish it.  Curious yet?  Well, hang on to that.  There will soon be more to come.

After I get this work published, I may go back and write the next book in the Blood Like Poison series.  I so enjoy writing about Bo (who wouldn't, right?) that I think I'd like to do one more before I start on the sequel to The Reaping.  I'm afraid I wouldn't do the first book justice if I begin it when I'm feeling so...light.  If you've read The Reaping, I'm sure you totally get what I'm saying.

Anyway, I think I'm going to hold off being so concrete with work, so as not to disappoint people if things change.  Soooo, as of right now, I'm saying that you can expect a new book from me tentatively by the first of July.  Much will be explained at that point and then I'll announce with absolute certainty my next project.  How does that sound?  Questions?  Comments?

As always, I really want you guys to reach out and talk to me.  Those of you who already have know how much I like to chat and hear from you.  So, by all means, give me a holler:)

Well, I guess that's it for now.  I'm off to type.  The creative juices are flowing, flowing, flowing:D

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

Blood Like Poison: Destined for a Vampire

It's here, it's here, it's here!  Today is the official release date of the second book in the Blood Like Poison series.  YAY!!

Ridley Heller thought that all her problems would be over if she could have Bo back—back from the dead.  But what Ridley didn’t know was that her wish would come at a price.

Bo survived a condition that would have killed a lesser vampire, or any vampire for that matter.  The only reason he didn’t die is because of who he is, someone Ridley doesn’t know at all.  Someone Bo himself doesn’t know at all.

As Ridley gets closer to finding out Bo’s true identity, she discovers that loving him could also come at a price, a price much higher than she ever could have imagined.  The question is:  is there any such thing as a price too high to pay for Bo?  For his love, for his safety, for eternity in his arms?

For those who would like a little taste, there's an excerpt at the bottom of this page.

This book is available for purchase at Amazon, SmashwordsBarnes & Noble and Apple.

THANKS to everyone who has supported this series, shown so much enthusiasm and given it some love on Amazon:)  I'm so grateful!  You rock:)

TGIF, y'all! No better way to kick off the weekend than with a great book (hint hint, this one!)

Excerpt:

I was skirting the writhing mob of dancers when I felt a familiar tug in my belly.  I stopped in my tracks and looked around.  Immediately, my heart sped up, banging like a drum, keeping time with the erratic expansion of my lungs as I grew more and more breathless.

I searched the faces for the one that occupied far too many of my thoughts, but I didn’t see him.  I could’ve almost convinced myself that I’d been mistaken, but the magnetism that I felt intensified with every breath, assuring me that it was no mistake.  Those invisible strings were pulling me, no dragging me into the middle of the crowd, where bodies were crushed together so tightly they moved as if they were one.

Weaving my way through perfumed and cologned figures, I felt like I was getting lost in the fray when I saw a tall, darkly cloaked figure watching me through a break in the mob.

He was dressed as Dracula.  His robe was ebony satin with a blood red lining and the hood that covered his head shadowed all but his mouth.  My breath hitched in my throat and burned in my lungs.  My pulse thumped wildly and my skin tingled in response to a presence that I couldn’t forget.  It was Bo.  Beneath the hood that concealed most of his face and the cloak that concealed most of his body, I knew it was him.  I’d know him anywhere.  I’d love him always.

Blogger Hates Me

Alright, y'all.  For some reason, I still can't comment on your comments to my blog posts.  I think that Blogger secretly (or at this point not so secretly) hates me and is endeavoring to steal what's left of my sanity.  Soooo, in light of this conspiracy, if you have a question to which you'd like an answer (the nature of most questions, right?), please e-mail me at m.leighton.books@gmail.com.  Enjoy Memorial Day.  YAY troops- past, present and future!!
