It's Christmas time! Wahoooooooooooooo I feel like Snoopy at Christmas for some reason, like I should be running through the snow, giggling uncontrollably with my ears flapping in the wind.  Only I don't have ears that flap, thank God.  LOL  Anyway, I digress.  Today is the kick off for my Christmas celebration, called THE 12 DAYS OF M. LEIGHTON.  It's my way of wishing you each and every one a very merry and extremely blessed Christmas.

So, let me explain what I'm doing.  Each day for the next 12 days, I'll be posting a different giveaway.  The prizes will start small and end BIG, like an entire set of my paperbacks, signed.  That's 11 books, people!  And until then, there will be all sorts of goodies I'll be giving away.  And did I mention there will be teasers thrown in?  Oh yeah. A small group of indie writers has pulled together and is hosting a FREE online conference on everything INDIE in Feb 2013!

Welcome to the first INDIE ReCon - Make Indie Publishing a Mission Possible

Are you curious about Indie publishing, but don't know where to start?  Or, are you already a published Indie author looking to boost your sales or expand your reach?  Then you'll want to attend a new exciting online conference happening in 2013 - INDIE Revolution Conference.  Or as we like to call it, INDIE ReCon.

INDIE ReCon is happening online from February 12-14, 2013.

INDIE ReCon is a FREE, ONLINE conference that is modeled after the awesome annual WriteOnCon. It is designed to help any writer or author who is curious about the ins and outs of Indie publishing. 

However any author or writer can attend because we cover topics all of you may want to know more about (marketing etc)

Everything from the pros and cons of Indie publishing, essential aspects in creating a high-quality book, successful online marketing, and expanding into International markets. 

We will feature over 30 guests that include industry experts as well as some of the bestselling adult and young adult authors in the publishing industry today including: Bob Mayer, Hugh Howey, M. Leighton, and Samantha Young (just to name a few).  

For three days, INDIE ReCon will highlight new topics every hour (sometimes every half hour) for 8 hours a day which will include interviews, blog posts, vlogs, and live online chats.  You'll receive advice from authors, bloggers, marketing partners, cover designers, editors, and more.  You can check out our line up of topics and guests on our website.

Make It Last by Bethany Lopez--Dream Cast

Today, I have my friend Bethany Lopez.  She has recently struck literary gold with her story entitled Make It Last.  For those of you who've read it, you'll be interested in seeing the pictures below.  For those of you who haven't, seeing this delicious cast will make you want to go straight out and buy this book.

Without further ado, here it is!

 

In a small town, it's hard to recover from being dumped by your high school sweetheart. That's just what Briana has to do after Colin leaves her to follow his dreams. She focuses her energy into her friendships and the pursuit of her own goal of becoming a chef. Just when she finally feels like she's on the right path, he comes back to town.

Colin knew breaking up with Briana before leaving for college was the right thing to do. He was determined to leave small-town life behind forever, and that included his high school girlfriend. But when a sports injury puts him on the sidelines, he's forced to return home. Seeing Briana again brings back a lot of memories, and Colin wonders if he made the right decision. It doesn't take long for him to realize he wants her back, and this time, he wants to make it last.


Now, here's the cast as Bethany sees them:

Briana - Long brown hair, brown eyes, delicate features. 5'4". Short order cook, wants to be a Chef. I saw this picture and thought she was the perfect amount of sweet and sassy that I wanted for Bree.




Colin - 6'1", dimples, football player. I had a harder time finding someone for Colin than the rest of the characters. I picked this picture of Wes Bently, because he had the brooding look that I thought fit Colin in much of the book. Plus, I thought he looked really hot in this picture. :)



Kara - Blonde waitress and roommate to Bree. Kara has a rough past and loves men. She has fun with them, but doesn't trust them, until Pete.



Pete - Bartender at the Bar & Grill. Red-haired and sweet as hell. He's in love with Kara and will do his best to win her over. I picture Pete as a young Eric Stoltz, from Some Kind of Wonderful.



Kent - I love Kent. He and Rich are the reasons that I had to make this a trilogy. Kent is 6 ft, blonde, and can come off as cocky, but he is loyal and a sweetheart of a man.



Nicole - Beautiful, busty blonde. Comes from a rich family, but gave it all up to live on her own terms. Hostess at the Bar & Grill.



Rich - Brown hair, hazel eyes, cleft chin. Colin's best friend. The only one still in school, we just see him when he's home on break.



Roni - Roni is Kent's twin sister. Tall, blonde, strikingly beautiful. She has a painful past.



Book 2 in the Friends & Lovers Trilogy, I Choose You is coming soon. I am planning a Dec 13th cover reveal and a Jan 8th release.
